WWYD

I know I'm a bit late but I just discovered this thread.

Anyway here's what I did:

Adusted Brightness & Contrast
Adjusted Saturation slightly
removed noise
Cropped into square
selected circular area
pasted onto blank white canvas

Using GIMP
Auto White Balance
Auto Color Enhance
Adjust levels on only the flower bud
Erode all
Select whole foreground plant
Feather Selection
Brightened just a bit using Color Curves
Invert Selection
Deepen background using Color Curves
Invert Selection back to foreground plant
Subtract flower bud from selection
Gaussion Blur slightly to add focus on bud
Slight Vignette to the edge of photo
(It is a good thing I copied this to Word because GIMP just crashed and I lost my pic just as I tried to save it.)

Just for fun, I did a second one that is simpler.

Using Gimp
Frame the pic in white fog
Select frames within the outer edge and change the selection using color curves or brightness/contrast.
It adds a cool frame within a frame effect with some transparency.

Default Silver and diamonds

This is fun. I started off with B&W and discovered if I darkened it up a bit with curves, clarified it, brightened it and gave it more contrast it started to look like silver leaves and a diamond center. I also did a bit of sharpening. So, here it is.

silver and diamonds
