Default What Would You Do (#76)

Well, ZebsterBC asked for a chance for redemption on posting for WWYD, so here it is I'm not pointing out the WWYD thread in question though lol

So here's this week's picture. According to Zebster, this one has bothersome shadows and a canopy sticking out of the poor puppy's head.

Now, the rules are simple (really, they are!). You use the picture in this post, edit it, then come back and show us what you did and explain how you got from here to there. Easy as that!

If you'd like your photo featured as a WWYD subject, that's pretty easy too. Just send me a PM with a link to the medium and large size of your image!

Now, let's see what you would do!

This is my attempt..
First I cropped the photo into a portrait size.
To remove the items in the background I used the healing brush tool set on replace and selected sections I hoped would blend in as if they were always there. I viewed the photo at 100% then used a small brush (4-5 pixels) to paint over the shadows, canopy and whatever it is sticking out of the dogs nose lol.
I then used the blur tool to slightly blur across the top corners and lastly used unsharp mask set at 13 % and 0.6 pixels.
I pretty much do my own thing with photoshop, it's a bit hard to describe so I hope this made sense.

Default I'm aware this looks totally fake...

I'm aware this looks totally fake, it would have been better if I'd found a background whose light was coming from the same direction as the light on the dog, but I couldn't find such a picture in a reasonable amount of time.

With this pic I just wanted to:
a. put the dog in a nice background and
b. give him something to look at.

The non-obvious things I did in this photo were to adjust shadows/highlights to try to minimize the contrast in the shadows on the dog. I also did a little dodging on the highlights as well, and i used the blur tool to try to soften the highlights that were on the dog's nose.

you always do a lovely job of extracting your subjects from their original backgrounds Sela, and this is no exception.

Cloned out shaded areas and the tent on a duplicate layer. Adjusted exposure. Used the push tool to give him a slight smile. Added a vingette. On a duplaicate layer used high pass effect at 6.90 and set blend mode to overlay to add sharpness
What would you do. not my image

Default Fetching

Good-looking dog, just adjusted for attention to that.

WWYD76

Cropped to feature face. Copy of original is foundation.

- Cloned grass debris and shadows away in background
- Added copy in Overlay mode 30% Opacity to enrich coat color, detail
- Added separate layer just for shadows on face, Lightened and Contrasted
- Added layer for Dark Vignette to lessen b/g distraction.

I wondered about adding a thought-balloon with a lipstick in it, but decided to give ZebsterBC a break. Some dogs wag their tail, others . . .

I played around with the curves on picnik, cropped out the icky shadow, and added a mirrored border.
