Wow, 5 weeks already since we started these threads

This week's picture is from evran. A lovely mountain shot, but this thread is to see what you guys would do to make the picture your own.

So, show us your creative side, do something to make it your own, do something you've never done before, or do something you've always wanted to try with post-processing but never had the reason to do so. Be creative, and have fun!

Cloned out parts of the lake and forest, played with hue/saturation, selective colour, brightness/contrast, unsharp mask.

I made two copies of the picture. Pne I made in infrared. The other I erased most of the mountains and sky and left the water. The water i darekend up a tad and then combined the two

I wish I could play. Great job on both of them....I instantly saw a picture when I looked at it however my new laptop is giving me more problems than the old....
I can't get on my old to play around and I cant get CS3 on the new one for whatever reason. I hope to get to it soon cause I got a huge change for this shot.....keep up the good work and thanks Nicole for your time on this thread.

Well let me start by saying that this photo of Moraine Lake is stunning! A truly beautiful spot in the Canadian Rockies. So, I decided that instead of trying to improve a photo that really doesn't need it, I rather chose to make it completely different. I have mixed feelings about the result and I definitely still like the original better (but I adore mountains, so I am biased!). So, here's my attempt:



What I did (sort of vague since I played around for a while):
-Cloned out a few objects in water
-Contrast increase
-Neon glow effect
-Adjusted histogram midtones several times (perhaps -15 each time?)
-Color balance adjust (tried to help the lake be not so green, but to no avail)
-Saturation increase
-Curves adjustment (basically increased contrast some more)
-Square crop
-Borders

So the end result is sort of like a drawing or painting I guess... Maybe I'll give it another go when I'm feeling more creative.

i wouldnt change this at all except for maybe combine 2 exposures for shadows and highlights.. colours are beautiful and how they should be ^.^

• USed the magic wand on the lake, did a Hue on it.

My second attempt....I love antiquing and mountains are a great subject for this style.



What I did:
-Cropped a bit off the bottom
-Desaturated and colorized sepia
-Adjusted histogram midtones (-14)
-Duplicated layer, applied gaussian blur and blended soft light at about 50%
-Merged all layers
-Duplicated layer again and painted in scratches...opacity 10%
-Merged all layers
-Duplicated layer, applied gaussian blur and blended overlay at about 50%
-Merged all layers
-Added noise
-Created a vignette with a mask, choosing a color from the photo (near black)
-Blurred the mask to better blend the vignette
-Added a thin black border and then a white border. Used the fill tool to change the black border to brown and it ended up filling in some other spots in the photo. Definitely not intentional, but I thought it added some 'antiquing' quality to the photo so I left it. To me it almost looks like the photo was burned or something...
-Painted over the brown border into the white border to make the border edge less defined

I definitely like this better than my first attempt, although I need to expand my horizons beyond 'antiquing' because I am using it a lot.
