Nicole, Clusty, and windrider86, thanks for your encouraging comments! Your edits in part inspired me because as I said, I was lost on this photo's post-processing potential before submitting it to this thread.

i had noidea what to do so I just made it a painting.
Used an artistic filter and framed it.....

xxpinballxx, I like it!

Am I allowed to do another one? I've been into 'antiquing' lately, so here it is:

What you would do #4 (edit2)

What I did:
-I cropped so the three people would be mostly in the center left to right and so that the background would be (almost) equal thirds of trees, field, and grass. It's a square crop. My goal was achieving an odd (3) composition all around.
-I cloned out the foreground tree shadow and other miscellaneous objects.
-I desaturated and then colorized sepia.
-I adjusted the histogram's midtones to increase contrast.
-I added noise.
-I added a mask layer vignette using a color found in the photo's background.
-I added borders.

No big deal, just playing around (and hopefully getting better at it in the process!).
