Default What Would You Do (#65)

This week's what would you do is from KodiakStar (And ok, it's a few days late, but this time it was on purpose so I could slowly work my way back to posting earlier in the week without taking time away from the previous WWYD ).

Rocky's Face

Available Larger

The rules are simple, edit the picture in this post. Come back, show us what you did and tell us all about it. Easy as that!

If you'd like your picture to be featured as a WWYD, just drop me a PM with a link to the medium and large version of the photo.

Now, let's see what you would do!

Default Lightning struck . . .

WWYD65X

The "face" was an obvious influence, and the plot thickened from there.

- I flipped the image, stronger looking to the left.
- Added a new sky, so the area behind hair was darker
- Added overlay of angel statue, blending hair into boulder
- Added a crackle texture to simulate stone
- Added Natalie Wood's eyes over angel's eyes, blending skin into statue
- Added vignette lower right to lessen impact there
- Added text

Default Rock'n'water

Rotated 90 deg; added a white layer; deleted the top left corner; saved contour as selection path; filled white with blue-white gradient; applied horizontal gradient mask; used stored selection on original layer; applied wave distortion (amplitude=10, wavelength=35); used gradient mask of 60 deg to make top right corner transparent; merged visible layers; applied a duplicated overlay layer to emphasize color. Masks adjusted water transparency. Software: Gimp 2.4.6

Larger version (1024x768; 310K)

I went totally cartoony with it. And I saw more than just the eyes...

kodiakstar's photo - pp mine

I duplicated the layer & cloned until I got the size of field that I wanted. I replaced the sky. Airbrushed the outline, copy/paste/clone/heal to get the "trunk". Erased some of the height of the stone... added the "wind effect" to all but the sky and the elephant. Added a swirl effect to the sky. Added gaussian, to get fuzzy border & added solid border. Had much fun

Default Here's what I'd do..

I'm not nearly so creative, but here is my approach to post-processing this photo. Hope you like it!
What I did was apply a very transparent white layer, erase around the outer part to highlight the "face" Then I added gamm correction and levels adjustment layers. I removed the sky and replaced it with my chosen color, which I also used to create the frame.

I love post processing. I'm a beginning photographer, so it's rare that I get the shot that I really want. Photoshop has become my best friend until I learn more from all the talented people on this site. Here is what I would do...

My response to WWYD

remove the weed in front of the 'mouth'
remove the weed from the lower right
tighter crop
balanced the overall color
added more cyan, green and blue to the grass
lens blur on the background grass
sharpened the rock
slight reduction of brightness and contrast on the rock

Default Abstract

wwyd65_edited-2

I'm bored.
Liquified, brushed on some bird shadows and added a frame.
