Hello All,
I started this thread and was trying my hand at layers and thought I would like to see what others can come up with. You know, to get the creative juices going... Here are the rules: Use layers and tell us how you composed your picture. And if the reader can tell us what they love and do not love (and how to make it better) about the final product that would be GREAT! Its kind of like b4 and after except its only for layered photos. And here is the second one that I did... ![]() I copied and pasted the fence and geodome onto a fake cloud background in PSE6 (B/W gradient - go to filter menu and then-render- difference clouds) Used a tree and cat brush and layered in document, layered moon in photo, desaturated all colors but green, boosted the contrast and then added a purple filter at 23% opacity and then added some noise. Oh and added some lightning using the almathera filter...

This makes me think of Halloween...probably because of the cat and the tree! There's something about that lightening though...

Great idea for a challenge! I have two examples (because they use the same texture layers). For these shots, I used close-up photos of water droplets on glass.
For the image below, I added 2 droplet layers on top of the main layer (person) to simulate diving into water. Bother layers are 100% opacity, blended using Hard Light mode. I also added an additional layer of striped metal at 75% overlay. Finally, I rotated the shot to get the droplets, the stripes, and the subject to be at an angle. ![]() For this second image, I added one droplet layer at 100% opacity (Hard Light) and masked out parts of it to simulate bug spray on glass. I also added a cracked cement layer to the wall behind the subject. That layer is overlay blended at about 80%.

Private, this is a nice thread to get going as it is likely to reveal all sorts of fun techniques for manipulating images.
One-eyed and one-handed at the moment I can't contribute just yet but will get around to it. The "textured" examples above are among my favourites. Here is to some other great examples. |
