Default What Would You Do (#63)

Oops! Seems to be all too common that I forget what day it is. I looked at posting this the other day, and got busy doing something else, but never fear, WWYD is here Or something like that.

This week's picture is from Tekla

for DPS WWYD (hopefully soon) (by teklastik)

Available Larger

As usual, the rules are simple. Use the picture in this post. Edit it. Come back, and post it along with what you did to get to your end result. New or old, you're welcome to participate in this thread. You'd be surprised how much you can learn. If you want your picture to be the subject of one of these threads, just drop me a PM with a link to the medium and large version of the photo. Simple as that! Now, what would you do!

Default It's been a while...

WWYD #63

It's been quite a while (about 3 months) since I've played with GIMP at all. Since the school year's about to begin again, I need to blow the dust off of 'er and work out some kinks in my memory.

I know he's not the best... BUT
I tried to bring his face out some by playing with the levels and tweaked the curves a bit, popping the colors of his garb a bit. (I always love the difference in the pic after doing so.) And I added an unsharp mask to the entire photo.

Other than that, I added a gaussian to try and help the background not distract so much, and cloned out the guy on the far right. He bugged me. Plus, I tried to put the main subject on the third.

Not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with him after being gone so long.

starrylaurie,

It's just like riding a bike, isn't it (except for the pedaling and balance and steering parts)?

If this is you working out kinks, I'm eager to see you at the top of your form. So well done.

Here is my version. Thought this was a good photo to try my dragan effect. This is just the 3rd photo where I was practicing dragan effect.

I tried to bring out more details in the face and dodge out his left eye to make it a bit more visible.

I hope it's good

Without meaning to, I did a similar crop as the others, I guess that says something

And, for fun, another take without cropping

@Kodiakstar - I like the fantasy effect you've got..

@starrylaurie - I second Jiminy.. thats like "rising from the ashes"

@private - I first heard about it from pinball. Here is a vdo tutorial I found

@windrider - Your pp is amazing as always. I love the way you stretch your limits (if any) and experiment with different pp methods..
