Default What Would You Do (#61)

Oops, time caught up with me this week, but never fear, there is a WWYD.

This week's picture is... well... of our esteemed Supermod, wulf. It's a picture of him, but it was taken by a friend, and he wants to know some ways to make it stand out more.

Wulf on Bass - 1 (by basswulf)

Available Larger

The rules are simple as always, use the picture in this post, edit it, come back, and post your results along with what you did (it is a way to learn after all!). If you'd like your picture to be the subject of one of these threads, just send me a PM with a link to a medium and large size of your image. I'm always looking for new images to add to the list. Now, let's see what you would do!

This is my first try at one of these, it's fun! I made a duplicate layer with a blurred spotlight layer mask, adjusted curves. Then I selected the background color that was too close to the color of his face and desaturated with a 50% transparent layer. Then made another duplicate layer in overlay mode, adjusted curves, and gaussian blurred.

Here's my take on it.

The larger pic looks a bit better

I used PSP X2. Created a dupe color layer. Converted the top layer to a platinum type b&w that was popular between 1873-1920. Erased the guitar on the b&w layer. Flattened the layers then applied a USM to the whole thing.

Oh, I cropped it too.
