Nice change Oldwolf!
I really like the crop and the selective coloring which normally im not a fan of.
Works great.....

Default ZZZZZannnng!

So, if you could see a bassist's connection to his instrument, it might be something like this.

Using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, terms are going to be generic:

- Copy of Original is bottom layer. Remove bright areas, floor, right side
- Add a Neon-Edge layer, remove all of it but hands, bass, and head
- Erase part of Neon-Edge on wrists and face
- Add dark vignette on base layer
- Feather to white edge

-OR-

- Crop to square
- Select around hands, bass, and head. Remove background. Desaturate
- Add a copy layer, apply Chrome effect in Difference mode, 40% Opacity
- Add dark vignette background

KodiakStar,

Playing around is a good way to get good at this! I could see your graphic screen-printed on a T-shirt or as a poster for wulf's guys. Strong representation.

KodiakStar,

Quiet, ain't it? Nearly 48 hours since you posted. What's say we go to the top?

Ok, this is my first go here... I focused on the actual player and tried to make him stand out while keeping the whole photograph in the original mood and setting. I don't like extensive editing if not necessary, I like to think one shouldn't be able to tell straight away whether the image was photoshopped or not, that's how good the editing should be for me...

There is quite a lot of noise in the original photograph, so that's obviously an issue here.
