Default Good Doggie: Sit. Crop. Contrast.

When in doubt, I try to make it better. First few minutes, cloning the clipped behind, and evening a few grassy bald spots. Then a CCW rotate to relieve the tilting sensation.

On a copy of Original as base layer:

- One layer Darkened, at about 40% Opacity
- Another layer Desaturated, Darkened, at about 40% Opacity
- A layer for just the eyes, Contrasted, Lightened, Saturated some
- A vignette to suggest flash was probably used.

Everybody stayed cute... I had to play the devils advocate and go a different direction, or at least try. I think he's still kinda cute.

What a cute pup!

I boosted the contrast, decreased the saturation, played with levels, added a vignette, added a high pass filter on a duplicate layer, boosted the greens and added a warming filter.

Here is what I did,
Duplicate the layer on the LAYER pallette
Go to FILTER - OTHER - HIGH PASS type 4.0 for RADIUS
on the LAYERS pallette choose vivid light for the blending mode
Flatten the image.

Second Step
Duplicate the layer on the LAYER pallette
Go to FILTER - OTHER - HIGH PASS type 6.9 for RADIUS
on the LAYERS pallette choose color for the blending mode
Set opacity to 40%
Flatten the image.

Third Step
DUPLICATE LAYER on layer pallette
FILTER - BLUR - GAUSSIAN BLUR 9.4 pixels
FILTER - NOISE - ADD NOISE 3%
from the top menu select LAYER - ADD LAYER MASK - HIDE ALL
using the lasso tool select only the eyes and choose SELECT - FEATHER about 6pixels
Choose SELECT - INVERSE
now use the brush on the tool pallette and set the brush opacity to 30% - brush over the entire image
FLATTEN the image

the final step is to sharpen the image.

Go to FILTER - SHARPEN - UNSHARP MASK

I use the following settings:
AMOUNT 100%
RADIUS 30.0 pixels
THRESHOLD 0
You did a wonderful job!!

Default Doggie Fixed Up..

Well.. I wish I could tell you exactly what I did apart from cropping, adding a couple of color adjustment layers...and correcting the eyes..I think they are in reality brown not blue. However, that said, my favorite so far, is the black and white with blue eyes! lol

PS.. I have never posted a photo, so if this is not right, would someone please contact me to help me.
Thanks, Nancy

Here's My Simple Attempt...

MY WWYD

I duplicated the image / raised the color levels-the red and blue-tried to give him a bit more color, especially in the face / used the unsharpen mask a couple of times / I used the oval select tool to cut him out, meanwhile...

Layer2: I cloned the lawn to fill it in (covered the dog too/ sharpened it / used the unsharpen mask strongly / then I applied a Gaussian blur to the lawn.

Step 3: I pasted the dog (from the first layer) onto the lawn / used the eraser tool to get the blured lawn back /

finally: I applied a canvas effect / then I oilified it lightly / then reapplied the canvas brush lightly / cropped it, and there's your pooch
