Default What Would You Do (#53)

And now we have our first WWYD of Year 2!

Thank you to everyone who has participated and who has sent me links to photos during the last year. There were a few times where I was worried we wouldn't be able to keep going, but you guys were great about helping out.

Now, this week's WWYD picture is from jujitsu1

DSCF1905

If you're just starting to participate in WWYD, the rules are easy. Use the photo in this post, edit it however you would like, and then come back and post your results along with some explanation of how you got there. If you want your photo to be featured as a WWYD picture, just drop me a PM with a link to the medium and large version of the image. Simple as that!

Now, let's see what you would do!

Not sure if I will remember all the steps cause there were a lot of them. Duplicate image- levels to darken - blend mode to overlay - duplicate - nagative image-gaussian blur 45 - blend mode to overlay (I think) lowered opacity - paste as a new image- lower opcaity- create new mask layer and paint in black - painted with gradient in some areas and grey in others. Took 2nd image - inverted - levels- gaussian blur - pasted as a new layer - blend mode to soft light - lower opacity. flatten image. duplicated image again - burn tool on midtones - inverted image - gaussian blur at 45 - blend mode to overlay- flatten. - duplactae - hue adjustemnt set to colorize and adjusted to almost a sepia tone - blend mode to soft light - flatten - duplacate - adjust contrast blend mode hue. adjusted colors. Then I thought the tombstones were too dark so i copied the orginal photo - pasted as new layer - lowered opacity - new mask layer - painted the top portion with black and then the lower with 50% grey, I think that was it for the most part

what would you do

Windrider I may have nightmares tonight. That photo may be too good and scary! Good job!

Here is my first attempt at one of these.
cemetary_wwyd 53

1. Added texture
2. Created new layer, used burn tool on the sky to darken, flattened layers.
3. Created new layer, added filter diffused glow, adjusted until I got the right look I wanted, flattened layers.

wwyd53 (by -Nicole-)

Churches and graveyards always seem to call for something a little on the dark side, so I played with this one a bit. After editing it reminded me of the setting of a series of books from an author I like to read (which probably influenced my edit once I got going). So, here's what I did.

1. Duplicated the original layer and erased the sky using a quick selection, then removed the white fringe (for the most part) using Layer > Matting > Defring with 2px.
2. Put a more threatening sky behind the church layer (sans sky).
3. Used the Colour Match function on the church layer to match it to the sky a bit more and make it darker. I increased the amount of fade and checked the neutralize box.
4. To keep things as they were at this point I made a copy of everything by using Ctrl+Option+Shift+E. At this point I went back and burned the edges of the trees to get rid of the white edges using Highlights at about 15%.
5. I decided things still needed to be a bit darker and more contrasty, so I created a new B&W adjustment layer and set it to the "High Contrast Red" and "Soft Light" blending mode.
6. Added in the runes and glowing window using a new layer with it set to have an outer glow using red. I used the Arcane Runes brushes by Obsidian Dawn and then just painted in the upper window. I also skewed the runes so that the fit the lines a little better.
7. I added another layer with a blue outer glow and added in the glowing bits between the gravestones using the Dangling Glows by Obsidian Dawn.
8. Then I decided a bit of rain might suit the image so I made the rain using a new layer filled to black, then using Filter > Render > Clouds, then adding noise (60%) and then using motion blur and setting the whole thing to screen at about 35% opacity.

Phew, I'm pretty sure that's about it!

Duplicated the layer then painted in the 'smoke', masked out parts I didn't want it on. Added the clouds on another layer, Added the person on another layer and adjusted opacity. Adjusted levels. I think that's it?

cemetary

Used PSE6 - Solorized the sky, cloned out the power lines, adjusted the brightmess, smudge tool around the church, duplicate layer, unsharp mask, changed blend to luminocity, and then flattened picture.
