I agree, really nicely done. I love seeing some of the really creative edits that people do to the photos.

Photobucket

Not sure I ma happy with mine...
Was going for a snowy/snow covered look

Anyway I duplicated it. Put a film grain filter on one and a dry brush on the other. I made the top layer transparent. Then I put a blue filter on (very transparent). I also fix the contrast and hue

Think that is about it...

Here's my attempt for this week. After cropping, I converted the image to Black and White using the color gradient method. Then changed to the image into duotone mode and applied a quadtone effect to the image "BL 541 513 5773".

DSC_5904

I decided to go for one of those blindingly-bright January days.

Black and white
Select trees, duplicate to new layer, flip down and warp to create shadows, lower opacity.
Increase the exposure to entire photo.

I played around alot and finally wound up with this pseudo-lomo effect . Here's what I recall doing:

1. Bumped up the saturation to bring out colors in evergreens and bare trees.
2. Added a blue sky layer and masked it (somehow) selecting everything above the snow line.
3. Selected the snow part and attempted to bring out more of the shadows.
4. Added some noise.
6. Gave the pic a square crop
6. Added some fisheye distortion
7. Created the circular vignette

If you see something in my version that is unexplained, please let me know and I'll try to remember!

I love being able to play with photos like this because I learn best this way. Great pp exercise!

I haven't done one of these yet as I am not very good at post processing yet. But dlaf - yours made me think of one of those snow globes you see around christmas time - looks cool.
