Here's a "normal" shot

I used a 30mm f2.8 Macro lens. Sat at my desk, used another lens to prop the camera up, then pushed my face into the camera whilst holding a flash and pressing the shutter :P

That was as about as close as I could get - obviously not being able to see the focus points on the back of the camera. The plan was to rely on the flash to get fast enough shutter speed, I think it was about f22. I tried to side light it slightly to get the texture of the fibres

If you look at this photo, the little line of light in the middle is the trigger flash that fires my wireless flash - the big white square on the left.
