It's all too easy to get in the gear head mindset, "If I just had that new lens I could get better shots." I say why not explore and have fun with what ever is around to take pictures. I've been able to produce cool pictures with a lomography effect from my cell phone.
So here is my challenge, Let see those cell phone shots. The lower the quality the better! ![]() ![]() These are two shots taking at a local punk club called the Bottom Of The Hill. I used photoshop to remove much of the graininess from the shots. If you're not familiar with lomography check it out -- it's great fun and very liberating. http://www.lomography.com/ Last edited by edmDusty; 04-06-2008 at 10:01 AM. Reason: Grammar Police |

I have no clue why some people are so caught up in bad photos. Lomography, and low quality camera phones... isn't the general idea of technology forward progress?
Anyhoo, straight from the... erm... phone: ![]() ![]() Both only taken on a phone so they could be instantly transmitted elsewhere. I have both shots on film as well. The one of the sky doesn't have the car's glass heater lines because an SLR is cool like that.

I do not. Having a degree in computer science, and being somebody who's carried a camera everywhere for years now, I know very well the difference.

The point is this - sure, sometimes for artistic reasons you want to make something look old. But really, what benefit could possibly come from something like a camera phone? All the pictures in this thread have no artistic value IMO. They're just snapshots taken on a really bad camera. camera phones produce worse quality than disposable film cameras do. They were designed as toys, and should be treated as such. Saying you can get art from a phone is the same thing as handing a child a marker and calling the result "modern art"
