Default What Would You Do (#43)

Welcome to another week of What Would You Do!

This week's picture is from Ampersand:

002 parking meter (by ampersandprime29)

Available Larger

The rules of the game are simple. Use the picture and edit it however you would like, then come back and show us what you did and tell us how you did it. If you would like your photo to be the subject of one of these threads, drop me a PM with a link to the medium and large size of your picture and I will use it in the order that I get it.

Now, let's see what you would do!

what would you do

First thing I did was to tone map this to bring out the wonderful colors.added a vignette. Once I did that tho, the grass was far too saturated and look like a neon green so i tried burnining it to make it darker. Didnt work.
Next i duplicated the layers and desaturated the entire photo. Then I erased around the meters to bring out the color in the first layer. Increased contrast a tad and cropped
Merged layers. Did a little burning in a couple of areas.

A little touch here and there seemed in order, just to address some issues:

WWYD43

Flipped original left for right, scanning seems better

- Copied a layer, turned negative, adjusted Hue for darker meters
- Layer was set to Difference mode, 30% Opacity
- Added Gradient layer for darker upper right (Sun flare)
- Separated background from edge of parking lot back, Darkened, Blurred, Desaturated
- Added Vignette to focus attention on meters

Default Too Parked t' Drunk

WWYD43A

Adobe PhotoDeluxe, using some Distort on original:

- Gradually reduced space on right to create a curve
- Used Twirl distortion each direction to suggest vision impairment
- Added Spin blur to suggest brain impairment
- Added this line just to see who really reads this stuff
- Light vignette added to suggest passing out
- Some Contrast, Darken, Saturation

Default Sandie renews my faith in Humankind . . .

When we're not around:

WWYD43C

Good Selecting practice

Separate meters from background

- Copy/paste on separate layer, flip copy left for right, resize, position
- Add eyes/flags, merge both meters
- Contrast, Saturate
- Blur, Darken, Desaturate background
- Add caption

jiminy, all three of your edits are great! Not only are they all so totally different from one another, but they are well executed, creative, and clever! Thanks for sharing.

moonshadow, hi! That's a very cool edit...neat colorization and style.

Teewinot, Thanks

Never know what's going to inspire; one meter probably wouldn't have worked. You are kind to comment thus, and if they please, the time is well spent.
