GOAL: To give it an antique, vintage look.

What you would do #43

What I did (in PSP XI):
-Cropped in a little on the right
-Added 2 additional texture layers (rust & garage floor), overlay blend, 100 percent opacity
-Merged all layers
-Unsharp mask (radius 75, strength 25)
-Histogram midtones adjustment (-10)
-Desaturation (-70)
-Added picture frame

windrider -- I really like how you brought out the colors and textures of the meters. Especially the pale turquoise.

jiminy - I love all your edits! Funny and talented, you are. (there I go into yoda-speak). The first edit is lovely, flipping the shot really works. I like the mood of it alot.

moonshadow - I recognize the "poster edges," I too am a big fan of that effect.

laepelba - amazing. I never think to do these types of things with my edits!

erniehatt - they proliferated!

thisguynoel - I love how you brought out the background. That is just so wonderful and part of what I wanted from the image too.

teewinot - it looks lovely with the vintage look.

---

Hmmm....now I'm off to see what I can do with the image.

BTW, this shot is from an "interesting" part of Baltimore -- just a few streets from the "block." My daughter and I were there to see a band at a small club. The parking lot also had tons of fascinating graffiti and (intentional) murals. But I was not allowed to use up space on the flash card for that! We had to save that for the bands. : )

Here's what I did:

- levels, contrast
- created layer with cutout filter
- layered original over that at 48% opacity
- cut meter, diner, and red-white&blue sign into separate layers.
- posterized those layers at varying levels
- "healed" out the sticks on the ground
- darkened shadows to emphasize tree shadows across grass.
- selectively desaturated the buildings in the background
- blantanly ripped off jiminy's idea and flipped the image. :-)

Ampersand,

That's a clean look, like you went back and rephotographed the site. Good work.

(Flipping is not copyrighted; I started really noticing the difference it could make after clockdoc began mentioning it in his Critiques.)

Here is my first post to this thread. I use PSE6, and I only know how to do a few things. I am not as gifted as the rest of the folks on the forum, but here goes.

1. Added scalloped edges 2. Sharpened picture 3. Using the magic wand converted parts of the pic to black and white. 4. Deleted some of the shadows using the healing brush - left the fire hydrant red. 5. Cropped photo
