Default Hand Made and the Story Behind it.....

Ok, so I like to see things that people have made themselves or made by others close to them that have stories. It is great to see all the talent and art in the world. I am hoping this works for everyone here, and if it don't, I guess it will fall off the end of the forums. LOL

What I have in mind are Photographs of things that you or loved ones have made by hand, and if possible, the story behind it. Quilts, drawings, paintings, metelworks, woodworks, or any hobby in general that you do outside of photography.....and then share it with the talent that leads us all here.

I'll start it off with a Clock that I made for my wife. It is of our little Chihuahua named Gizmo. She loves him so very much and I wanted to do something special for her. I took a pic of him that I had and in an old Photo program I have since lost, I applied "snow" and played with it till I got a copy that I could use in a Scrollsaw Pattern. Then I scrollsawed it out and added a black background and put the clock in. (From Clockit.com). She loves it. It sits in our living room above the TV.

It's not something I make, but an older gentleman in the town where my workplace is makes these wooden boxes in his workshop. They're a little piece of old-school craftsmanship which stands in contrast to the modern steel/aluminum machines that we build.

He also makes some nice quilt racks and other wooden items, but I don't have any good pictures of those.

I'm not ignoring this thread. Honest, I'm not. I like the idea, and yes I have other hobbies besides photography; woodworking for one. But I've not taken a single picture of anything I've made.

Okay, here are some things that I hand made. Really there is no story behind them other than I just like to make stuff.

A Perpetual Calendar (ignore crappy cell phone photo). I designed this in PSE, printed each square, cut it all out, and adhered the squares to wooden blocks.

A big altered canvas that I made from little bits and pieces of things that people from all over the place have sent me.

Altered Canvas

One of many many handmade greeting cards

Inchie Card

And one of many handmade mini photo albums

Cover-home is where your mom is

All of this stuff plus lots more can be found in my scrapbook gallery (link in my signature). I have a "card" set and a "mini album" set, etc.

Coo-Coo Clock II
Back to clocks.. I made this Coo-Coo about 10 years ago with the intention that it would aggravate my family, Coo-Cooing every hour, lol. It backfired, they loved it. Its all handmade with the exception of the clock 'works', thats a quartz unit I got from Clock-Kit. The dark wood is walnut (cut the trees down myself) The light wood is maple, from a tree off my property. The 'weights' are fake pine cones that came from Clock-Kit.

Dragon Ring of Fire
No story behind this one, just like dragons. Cut from a single red oak board, all scroll sawn. The green and orange colors that you can see through the 'holes' are fabric behind the dragon, wanted to give it a little color.
