Hey Nicole, the photo doesn't appear to be working. All I see is a tiny rectangle shape and when I click on it, I get a "page not found" message. Broken link perhaps?

You'd be right... Hmmm, it was working yesterday. Ummm, I guess give it a little time to see if it comes back up? I don't have a copy of the original pic, but if anyone who's been working on it does, I'd say go ahead and post a link to the original if you can.

Tried to get the feel of an illustration...

Sharpened
Duplicated background and used Laplace edge-detect. Mode to grain merge.
Duplicated background again and moved to top of stack. Used edge-detect by difference of Gaussians. Mode to overlay.
Duplicated top layer, cleared all but the bit at the bottom with the coloured twigs and set mode to colour.

Hey, my friend Sandie told me about this game.

- flipped horizontal
- cropped
- darkened highlights (25%)
- increased midtone contrast (very slight)
- increased saturation (very slight)
- used poster edges filter to accent all the lines and to differentiate the squirrel from the lovely branches.

I played around with different crops and ended up liking a little of the grass left in. I like the edge between the grass and the snow.

Thanks for letting me play,

Amp

This isn't exactly what I wanted, I am getting a bit frustrated with my lack of layering skills! I may keep working on this one, but here is one version for now.
squirrel

I am not even sure I can tell you what I did because this is probably the 20th attempt!
I know I lassoed the squirrel out and copied him into a square. Then I cloned and blurred the edges out. Then I smudged the very edges. I was going for a looking through an iced window effect.
