Looks like I'm starting this one.
Copied new sky in as a new layer - changed blend mode to multiply - lightly erased around the windmill to have it stand out more. Merged layers. Used the scratch remover tool to remove poles. (I use PSP) Duplicated layer and sharpened quite a bit, ereased the sky so it wasn't so over sharpened. Merged layers and duplicated again. Used Flaming Pears flood tool to add water in. I wish I would have left this step for last tho) Erased the edges so they werent so harsh. merged layers. Traced around all the windows with the lasso tool. Promoted to new layer, flood filled with yellow. Removed the marching ants and applied a Gaussian blur for the appearance of glowing lights. Merged all layers.

Great job Windrider! Cool water effect, that must be tough to do. Your version does give off an eerie vibe - almost like a haunted windmill!

Here's my stab at it.

What Would You Do #146
What would you do? #146:
First I removed those pesky poles. Next, I used the magic wand to select all the windows and brightened them up. I then created a new layer and added a new sky, using a combination of the clone tool, healing tool and blur tool I meshed the sky with the image decreased the opacity just a bit and I cleaned up some of the overlay with the eraser; then I merged the layers together. I Increased the exposure just a bit, increased the saturation, applied some Gaussian blur and added a soft vignette to the image.

Cheers!

Truth be told, water is easy. Flaming Pear has a plugin called flood. Click ont hat and you have instant water

I used the blue sky and clouds plugin in gimp to correct the blown out sky and add some dimension to it. I removed the poles and the shed with resynthesizer. Then I opened it in picasa to adjust the color temperature, increase the shadows and the fill light slightly and adjust the saturation, finishing by making the horizon straighter.

What Would You Do #146

Great work by everyone this week. Here's my attempt.

In Paint Shop Pro:
  • Cropped the image to adjust the composition.
  • Used Scratch Remover and Clone Brush to remove the poles and wires.
  • Pasted a sky photo as a new layer, selected the sky from the original, inverted the selection, and deleted the selected area from the new sky.
  • Reduced the opacity of the new sky layer to blend with the original sky and merged.
  • Converted to Black & White with a red filter.
  • Adjusted Brightness/Contrast
  • Added a slight sepia tone.
  • Applied noise reduction and sharpened.
