Default Street photography dare

Street photography is one area that puts fear into alot of people.

What I'd like to do is get a shot of say a tramp asleep on the bench in sharp focus for example and all the other shoppers milling around "motion" blurred. For this you would need a tripod right (for the slow shutter speed)?

I do not feel comfortable setting up a tripod in the middle of a busy street so I dare dps members (those that are brave enough) to get "the shot".

I accept your challenge Rachel - would you be content with someone begging rather than sleeping?

CaptainNH - Thank you for accepting the challenge. Its entirely up to you what you photograph for the main subject i just put tramp asleep as he's probably not going to be aware of the camera and suddenly dash off .

It could be someone quietly reading the newspaper, eating an icecream, feeding the ducks whatever!

If anyone else feels brave enough. Have a go!

Well I tried Rachel, I thought the crowds attending the Anzac Day Dawn Service might have given me an opportunity, alas, the weather in Sydney at 4am this morning was dreadful and the homeless residents of our city were sheltering elsewhere.

It was dark in Martin Place this morning, most of my shots were at 1/60s, f/1.8 & ISO3200.

The closest I got was this lady who attended to show her respects to the fallen.

And this young sailor, who was dutifully waiting to drive the Commander Australian Fleet following the service. Unlike the more disciplined air force members, she couldn't quite keep still long enough for me to get the shot I wanted.

I haven't given up quite yet - I'll see when I can manage later in the week.
