The rules for the challenge are simple. You can edit this photo in any way you see fit. Change it into something different, add character sto it or enagnce it in anyway, all you need to do is tell us the steps you took to acheive the look you ended up with.

So with that being said: Let's see what you can do!!

Default royal crown

white orchid copy copy

i selected the flower and put it in another layer. selected the left portion and put in another layer, flipped horizontaly and placed it to the right to make it symetrical. also moved to the center the red bud. i erased the extra petals at the top right portion. opened image of cloth and dragged it to the flower image, adjusted the size and placement. between the flower and the cloth, i made a new layer and brushed the shadow of the flower. darkened the upper portion of the cloth, flattened and saved

Edbayani, I really like what you did!

Now there are a number of us who like this "game" Please if everyone would send one or two pictures to Windrider for inclusion it would make sure it continues and help Windrider out. Douglas

What Would You Do #138

I liked these flowers quite well as they were, so I just added a vase and adjusted the composition a little.

In Paint Shop Pro:
 • Applied noise reduction and adjusted brightness/contrast.
 • Duplicated the image on a new layer, converted to black and white with a blue filter, set the blend mode to Luminance and merged.
 • Duplicated the merged image on a new layer, applied Gaussian Blur and set the blend mode to Difference.
 • Copied the merged image to a new layer, inverted, converted to black & white, and set blend mode to Burn to enhance the edges.
 • Deleted the blurred layer.
 • Enlarged the canvas and pasted an image of a vase as new layer, erased unneeded areas, and adjusted levels to match the flower image.
 • Merged and cropped.
 • Adjusted brightness/contrast.

Very nice so far.
I did an easy one this week. Painted all areas black. Pasted owl eyes on as a new layer and then erased spots i didnt want to show thru

then for this one I made 2 more layers on top of the background layer. The middle layer I set the blend mode to screen and the top layer used the gaussian blur set on 30 and then changed the blend mode to mulitiply. That gave the flower a nice glow. next I duplicated the layer again and applied Flaming Pears Flood tool and adjusted the settings until I got something I liked. Used the erase tool to remove any harsh edges. flattened image

white orchid masked ball

i used the same technique i did in making the royal crown that i posted earlier but i cut the 'eye' holes using the pen tool and making it a selection and deleted. then with free transfor i changed the perspective of the flower, and adjusted the position. on another layer i made the ribbons using again the pen tool and filled it with yellow. with the dodge and burn tool, i made the shading and highlighting of the ribbons.
i also made the mask handle and filled it with yellow color and with the burn tool darkened one side. i got this idea from windrider86's post.

As many of you know, my 5 yo daughter and I play this game together each week. Sometimes we are at odds on what we see in the picture. This week was one of those weeks. This is what I saw:

In GIMP: inverted colors, cropped, added a second antenna (easy as pie).

This is what my daughter saw:

In GIMP: select all the flower area, create transparent layer, use the blend tool to create the rainbow colors, did a bit of cloning and clean up, added another layer to create the swirls. flattened (not too difficult, but not the 2 min. job that I saw )

white orchid mardigras
i hope douglas doesn't get mad at me. but the more i look at the flower, i see images.
i rotated the image 180 deg. and removed the extra petals and the background. i dragged a photo of a 'sinulog dancer' from the philippines and with free transform, i adjusted the size and placement. then with layer mask, i removed the head and torso with just the feet with skirt and outstretched arms remaining. made another layer and put a gradient for the bg. i painted the shadow and flattened.
