Using the channel mixer adjustment level. I set the blend to grey and slid the channels until I liked the black and white version I found. Lowered the opacity level so a tad of the blue still showed thru. Next i wanted more detail int he tree so I applied a chrome effect to it. Changed the blend mode to overlay and then erased the sky as I didnt like how it looked. Added a white vingette and burned some of the areas of the clouds

Two things,

1 are you just telling us? Some photographic evidence would be nice

2 How do we submit to you? Okay that came out worse than intended. How do we give you photographs for you to use?

TREE FOR PP copy
i encircled the tree with the lasso tool and copied it to another layer and duplicated the tree layer and set it to multiply mode to darken the tree and show more details. then i desaturated the tree set the contrast high, used color range and selected black then inversed the selection and deleted the excess image to isolate the tree.
i went to the bg layer and with hue and saturation, i desaturated a little to reduce the bright blues. then used the sponge tool set to saturate 40% and brushed the waterand some portions of the tree to brighten up some of the colors.
i created a blank layer between the tree and the bg and painted white with a soft brush reduced the opacity, to make the fog. flattened and saved

TREE FOR PP copy

here's another. i duplicated the layer and used filter, lighting effects, spotlight to darken the layer.
i encircled the tree of the background layer and copied it in another layer i made it extremely contrasty and removed the excess image, isolating the tree. i duplicated this tree layer because i used one layer by using free transform to distort it and used it as the shadow of the tree. the other tree was used for contrast and detail.
i inserted a photo of the moon and behind the moon i created another layer and brushed with soft brush the yellow glow of the moon. on another layer on top of the moon layer i painted the cloud and adjusted the opacity. i also painted some flickers and small highlites and flattened and saved. i also added slight light streaks behind the tree.
