Default Comic book Look

I tried to get a comic book look. I used the Picnic website to do this.
Used the HDR's first
Then the Pencil drawing and faded id some of the color.
Added saturation and color
And the Vignette

Tried a comic sort of look too but in a different way.
Ink outlined then upped contrast and brightness
Then adjusted shadows and highlights

What would you do?

I thought the original pose was quite aggressive and so the overall idea was to try and enhance this mood.

I've cropped it to change the composition, I find the person slightly off centre more pleasing to the eye.

As the background is not too interesting and distracts from the person, the combination of cropping and the heavy vignette effect ensures their is no doubt about where the eye is focused.

The face is quite dark & not too sharp, so I decided to up the contrast such that the face would no longer be visible, this draws attention to the position of the hands, which do look quite sinister.

I saturated the colours up to make the image a little more vibrant, this really highlights the areas that are lit and I like the contrast created.

A kittle sharpen and dodge around the eyes
GIMP's auto white balance for the colour
Selective Gaussian blur on the background

Um, no. It's for the University of Georgia. But I like what you've done with it anyway.

In the GIMP:
Cropped and desaturated the image.
Adjusted Curves to add more contrast.
Created a new (empty) layer.
Plugins > Noise > Hurl > Okay.
Desaturated the layer and set translucency to 20%.
Created a new layer and filled it with blue (Red: 0 Green: 0 Blue: 150 | #000096) and set mode to Overlay
