Default External flash for Fujifilm s9600

Hello all,

I am new on this forum. I don't know if this subject was already posted to this forum, I cannot find search button here

I've just bought s9600 and I'm wondering what kind of external flash should I buy for it (I'd like to play with bounce flash to avoid blinding my little baby). I doesn't have to be full automatic or so. I just don't want to damage a flash or my new camera.

Default flash gun

I no longer have my S9600 so I did not get a chance to try it with an external flashgun. However, I did make enquiries and several dealers recommended a Sunpak. There are several models so make sure you find out which is the correct one.

I just bought a Sunpak 383 Super flash but I have not tried it out yet.

Hi all Fujists,
Me too have a Sunpak 383. It work well with the S9600. You can experience with bouncing, while you can tilt the flash to any direction in order "not to blind your baby"...
As for myself, I prefer to shot with no flash at all. I "compensate" for the lack of flash with the using of a tripod, and a higher ISO setting if necessary.

Do you still get the dreaded shadow if you use a bounce flash indoors?

I'd quite like some advice as well. I have been given an external flash (an olympus T20) that fits the hot shoe on my s9100 and it flashes when I take a shot but as the flash isn't designed for the camera I don't know what to do about settings.

If I leave the flash set to auto am I going to be compromising quality?

If I want to use it in manual then how to I decide on settings? - no instruction book!!

Would I be better just buying a new flash unit?

Thumbs up Metz 36 C2

I bought the Non-Dedicated Metz 36C2 Flashgun, this is fantastic and is perfect for the S9600. You will have no problems with this and it is dead easy to use. Hope I helped.
This automatic flash unit features three different auto-working apertures (f/8, f/4 and f/2 at ISO 100/21°), manually adjustable zoom reflector to optimize light output within the focal lengths 28-85 mm.

Benefits:
Guide number 36 for ISO 100/21° and 85 mm focal length
Cobra-Design: reduces red eye effect
Reflector can be tilted a vertical direction 90°
Zoom reflector - works in 28-85 mm range
Operating modes A/M
3 Telecomputer apertures
Flash control indication
Flash ready indication

It's Brilliant.............
