I just got one, not sure if it's what I need. Put it on auto this weekend and the indoor shots are horrible. I need help, too!

good afternoon anapoto:

I too have the camera and have been very pleased with it. I think it is a lot of camera for the money.

I have the oylmpus e-20 but wanted someting a little lighter and smaller to take with me. (e-20 is a large and heavy dslr} but a fine camera though. I figured this is similar to a dslr but cheap enough
if something happens to it no great loss.....

I believe your problem is 2 fold..

1. the color of indoor lighing is different than outdoor lighting.

2. your shutter speed is too slow so you get camera movement.

so hear is the solution.... TURN ON the flash.

this will give you the right color balance and correct for the slow shutter speed.

any further questions feel free to ask.

Thumbs down Fuji 2000HD bites me

Well, I sent mine back! I never had to work with my S700 for good pics, it was so dependable. I ordered the 2000HD for the framespersecond, movie, and mainly zoom features. My pics were noisy, blurry, did I say noisy? color was off, For the money, I'll keep my S700 and buy a new movie camera!

hehe, indoor shots, recommended ISO is between 400-800.. depends on lighting, if its worst, then use 1600.. noises in the s2000hd is bearable. i took pics in iso1600 before, and im happy with it..

auto is for amateur. explore around the settings of the camera. i mastered the camera already, and now, i took shots in manual mode...

Id be interested to hear what you think of your cams so far as I am considering getting one of these for its x18 zoom. Id like try and get some nature shots while im out fishing and also want something to take to the odd air show. Im not sure if 18 is overkill or if a X12 Zoom like the S1500fd would be ok.

I bought this camera 2 weeks ago. Yes its not a high-end camera, some say its still a point and shoot type, some website say that it is dslr, most review say it's a hybrid type (point and shoot with dslr-like features).

The main reason I've tried this out is because I am a newbie in the world of photography. I don't want to be spending a lot on something to be used just 'for practice' and feel sorry in the end for breaking it or give up because it's too complicated to understand or invest yet in different type of lenses.

Yes, finepix s2000hd has limitations in its P, S, M and C modes but I can say that it is a good camera for starters. Pros would be bored using it and maybe it wouldn't even be in the list of their camera choices. But I'd still recommend it for beginners, it just takes time to 'get the hang' of it, just like any other art- it needs practice and a lot of experimentation. Of course, one should not expect that it would give the same results as top of the line models. You'll get more to it than any other cameras with the same price. Moreso, I love it's design and the fact that it is very handy and light compared to any beginners cam.

So far, I have had mistake shots...sometimes I get a bit frustrated but when I check the EXIF data and figure out what I did wrong, reset my settings and get better pictures, i am happy because i learnt something. I don't intend to be stuck in this camera forever, once I am ready for the REAL dslr, I'd buy one. But for now, I love my s2000hd.

I always believe that camera is just an art instrument, a tool much like a paintbrush. Qualities might be high or low much like the cheap set of oil paint or the most expensive one...But the art of photography lies not on the camera but on the vision and aesthetic skills of the one pressing the shutter button- the photographer, much like the vision and the skills of a painter. I bet Leonardo Da Vinci can still paint his great Monalisa the way it is regardless of what kind of paint he used. It is just a matter of how long it would last, or how much color change it would have against time.

I have the s1000fd, from the same range, with 12x zoom and 10mp.
I agree that these cameras take terrible shots on auto, which is a fault, but the reason I bought this camera is that it has features that a DSLR might have, and it can be used in full manual. I can adjust white balance, aperture, shutterspeed, bracketing, photometry, ISO etc.
This is a great little camera that is very versatile once you get used to it and learn all the functions, and at only 120 pounds (about $180) great value for money.

If you want to use auto mode don't buy a fujifilm 'hybrid', but if you want an entry level camera with flexibility, fujifilm is a good choice.
