Default Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd, is it good?

I'm looking for pretty much my first camera and I was thinking about getting the Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd

It's only $215 and seems to have tons of DSLR like qualities... is there a better option for my money? It's either this or the canon SD1100 so tell me what ya think!

I have a Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd and I think it´s a really good camera, I´ve never had a DSLR, but from what I know, I think it has a lot of DSLR qualities.
Margarita.
This is one of the photos I took with my Fujifilm.

My fried recently bought a S1000fd. I have used it a little bit and from what I have seen it's a really nice camera at a really good price.
Here is a shot I took with it.

Good evening:

I have the S2000hd which is very similar to the S1000 . the main difference with the
S2000HD you may shoot 720i video .

I have been very pleased. with the camera..

I also have olympus e-20 dslr, wonder full camera. I wanted a camera that was small and
light weight, and inexpesive. (so if something happened to it no great $$$ loss.

the Idea of DSLR type camera was a great appeal. You might consider this camera.

padid $299.00 at best buy

Cool Most wicked words of wisdom

I have a S1000fd! It is great for beginners, and sometimes can be a real saver (I bought nine at Costco for 170$$$!) It offers a lot of most excellent features! If you are beginner like I was when I bought the cam, this is a rad choice. As I am getting more experienced in photography, I am wishing for a step higher in my cam. But you do not have to worry about that, dude, if you only do photography as a pastime.

I have had no problems whatsoever, but I advise you to get re-chargeable batteries (this dudes a battery sucker)

Here are some of my shots with this cam:
