1) Quick macro mode 1 - while holding the camera to your eye you can tap the left button twice then half press the shutter to enter/leave macro. You don't have to press OK or take the camera away from your eye.
2) Quick macro mode 2 - my preferred option - push the focus selector up to MF with your left hand and press the AFL button with your right hand (autofocus in manual mode) and you'll get a solid macro lock. Another advantage is that you can do this in OVF without jumping to EVF. Works much better than "proper" macro - very reliable and the frame lines will jump to parallax correct when you half depress the shutter. 3) Watch out for the iso resetting when you change your modes. I set the iso to 400 for all modes (MSAP) then adapt as necessary. 4) Look out for the front ring cover falling off if you try to actually manually focus. It takes about 9 turns to focus from 0.5 to 1.5 meters but the ring cover will fall off after 2! 5) If you turn off the post-shot review, you will see the frame in the OVF disappear for 1/4 second after you take the shot. This is useful in silent mode to let you know the camera has fired if you are in a noisy place. 6) You can set up the custom OVF display to look like the normal display without grid lines etc but it is useful to leave the distance scale on to let you know you've locked focus (esp using macro 2 mode above in the OVF). Also the flash symbol to quickly check you are in silent mode. 7) Pressing Up, Up and half pressing the shutter is a quick way to change to movie mode with the camera still at your eye. Hope this can help...Any additional idea?
