Default HS20EXR Users???

Just curious how many members might be using this new camera. After wanting to get a "real" camera for years I was looking at SLR Canon & Nikon cameras. Always being a P&S user I was quite frankly overwhelmed by shutter speed, aperature, ISO talk as well as the cost & size of the SLR equipment. So after researching it for a month or so I came across the HS20EXR and ended up going with that.

I guess they consider this a "bridge" camera. One that is not a SLR but it has many of the same features as a SLR except you can't change out the lens. But for me being just a beginner I thought being able to do a built in 30x zoom & Macro shots as well as having Aperature & Shutter priority modes and full manual mode AND it was under $400 that I'd go this route.

So far I'm pretty happy with the camera. Any points, concerns, tips for you guys about using this camera. Thanks!

I personally really like the shutter priority mode for shooting waterfalls, the pro focus mode for closeups and the 120 degree pano mode for mountain overlook shots.

FYI I found this video on Youtube and thought it was pretty helpful. Fuji Guys - FinePix HS20EXR Part 3 - Top Features - YouTube

That's a fantastic camera for a Point and shoot, bridge, super zoom compact, whatever you want to call it! The super macro Fuji is using now is outrageous! It was a good choice sine you can get great shots in the EXR mode or any of the sp modes and when you're ready you can venture into the PASM modes.
The manual zoom is really helpful so you don't over shoot your zoom and the fact it is actually threaded....the only one in its class to actually accept filters, is a huge plus!
ENjoy and the only real advice.....keep shooting....shooting.........shooting...........!

I have had 2x HS-10 and 3 Fuji HS-20. The 20 is a little faster than the 10, but I find and many on flickr concur, the optics are not as clear as the 10. Also the ISO performance is a little better on the 20, but not enough to make it a worthy update unless you are taking LOTS of low light shots(either indoors or late afternoon)

Now the X-S1 is out, that will be the new Bridge cam to get !!

I got my first two filters recently...a good Polarizer filter and an a ND one as well. Both screw on nicely to the 58mm lens. I can tell the most difference with the ND filter when shooting moving water on bright days.

This last HS20 that I have, I find that once in a while I have to go into the menu and do complete RESET, as the camera tends to slow down if I play with too many settings after a while.

I bought a circular ND filter(turn it to adjust how dark you want) for long exposure shots. It was a good quality one and cost almost $100.
