The X100 has some serious retro-styling, rarity, and uber-cool viewfinder technology (it uses a digital overlay on top of the optical viewfinder, as well as the option to use an electronic viewfinder. It's designed more as an enthusiast's camera, while the NEX is designed more for someone wanting to step up from a P&S. Fuji are selling these more as a high-end/luxury product.
OTOH, the X100 has a fixed lens (35mm f/2 equivalent), not an interchangeable lens mount. Not that there are that many choices for NEX lenses today, but.... Suggest you go and google some reviews of the X100 by professional photographers. Neil van Niekerk and Zack Arias are both deeply in love with theirs.

Thanks, inkista.
I've read some reviews about X100 and it really seems to be a very capable camera. I think that only taking pictures with it and with the NEX-C3 I would really be able to compare. My point is that the X100 is priced in US$ 1.200 while the NEX-C3 with 16mm/f2.8 is priced at US$ 600. As we usually don't hear good feedbacks from Sony digital cameras I would really like to confirm that the difference in pricetag is not only a matter of retro design and materials then final result. What should be exactly the points that would explain the double price: better lens, exceptional viewfinder, better focus system, sharper pictures... would these point compensate the drawback of fixed lens (NEX cameras has few options and they are not cheap...). Thanks for any additional help. |
