Default Fujifilm Finepix S5000 problem

My S5000 appears to have failed / died and wondering if there is anything I can do for it?

I can currently view pictures already taken but it won't take new ones - the preview screen or EVF just show white and an occasional flicker.

Attempting to take pictures goes through the motions with all the right noises, etc but the end result is a white screen.

Thoughts?

Or is it stuffed?

I had a similar prob with an S9600, and the problem was one duff battery - it would go through the motions, and produce nothing. Replacing the batteries did the job.

It's worth a try - good luck.

Despite having just bought a new set of batteries I have (re)tried this - unfortunately still no go.

I've read (forget where now) that sticking it in a plastic bag in the freezer for 20m might help as well. Any thoughts on that one as at this stage I'll give anything a go
