Question Photo Sales

I am in the process of setting up a web site to promote my tourism business and included will be a section where my photos are available to purchase. The big question is do I sell:-

a) Prints of various sizes where I am in control of the colour balance etc. (not mounted or framed)?

or

b) Send the digital image and have no control over the use therafter?

If b) is the answer, should it be the full size (i.e. 3872x2592 pixles) or resized to a reasonable A4 size?

If someone prints your photo themselves, and it doesn't live up to the expectations, who are they going to blame?

NEVER EVER SELL THE IMAGE FILES

There, I said it.

If youre selling prints, sell prints. They can easily be sent by mail in a mailer tube, regardless of size. Do it yourself.

This also means you can charge more.

I'm not in the business of photography but do have a background in business operations. I agree with Osmosis, if you're interested in selling prints don't even think about giving the digital images. Imagine a scenario where you sell an image. A friend of the purchaser sees it and likes it. Rather than sending the friend to your website (giving you a new customer in the process), the purchaser just e-mails the file to the friend. The cycle could repeat itself over and over. I think that the risk is extremely high that you'll end up giving away your work for free.
