I would think that it would depend on where and what you are selling. portraits, landscapes, etc. The more info you give the better results you will get here.

Pricing is a function of you cost of doing business, your cost of goods sold, and the amount of demand your images have.

Since you're just starting out, charge as much as you think the traffic will bear.

I wouldn't initially sell 8x10 art prints for less than $50 each, but that's me.

How much for a framed 8x10 would depend on the mounting method and the frame, since there is a range of mounting materials, techniques, and frames.

To start, markup framing materials 100%, i.e. double what they cost you and add your print price to that. Find a qualified local framer or if you want to DIY visit Documounts :: Custom Size Picture Frames, Pre Cut (Precut) Mat Boards, Paper Mats, Photo Matting & Framing Supplies as an online source for framing materials and information.

For framing an 8x10 art print, I would print it on 12"x14" paper and frame it with a single archival museum quality acid-free 2 inch mat 12 inches by 14 inches. I prefer an offset mat window and a matboard backing using an archival hinge mount, so assuming a vertical format I would use a 12" x 15" mat (and print paper) with the mat window 2 inches from the top and 3 inches from the bottom and 2 inches on either side of the print.

I help the client choose the frame based on where the client will be displaying the art. If I am framing on speculation, like for a show, I choose a frame to complement the art.
