Angry Why??

Why is it that people always compliment your work and they say they checked out your webpage and praise you up and down then throw in a comment like "...and your prices are reasonable" but in that voice that all of a sudden becomes skeptical from their end and you can tell that they think you are overpriced. what the hell????? am i suppose to work for free?? i freakin research and do price comparisons between photographers in the area and still end up on the cheaper side of things and people still think im overpriced?????
thats B.S. - i just have to remember that my target audience is people who have money - not people who DONT!

No matter where you go or what you're trying to buy, people (yourself included) will always try to get the best deal they can for their money.

I, as a consumer, feel the same way you do from the the other side of the spectrum. Why does the salesperson get all snitty when I try to get a few bucks off? I'm not trying to get the few bucks off because I think you should work for free, I'm trying to save myself money, even if it's only a few cents.

It's human nature, accept it, deal with it, move on to the next sale.

Having said that, I appreciate where you're coming from, and I don't go into every purchase trying to get a few bucks off, but it never hurts to ask either.

You're going to have a pretty miserable business life if you don't get over that. As Bluenoser said, that's human nature. You're either very young or have been given a lot of money if you've never shopped for the best deal yourself.

Don't you want to get the most for the least? Of course they would be happier if you were cheaper....

i get that because i do it myself.
i think its just the way it came off when this person said it was a little strong. its not like they were asking me for my services - its an outside opinion but i dont care (there is some room for negotiation though)

anyways - i understand that there are going to be people who lowball me and others who wont.

either way, i was just venting.
its more annoying then anything when you hear that

Just return with, "I know! Can you believe what the other photographers in the area are charging?!!", in a confident tone.

My favorite story is from a friend who was selling his fully restored 1966 Nova.

Guy comes to buy it already agreed price at $33,000

Guy says, "All i can do is, 31,000"

Friend says, "How about $35,000?"

Guy - "Hey! That's more than we agreed!"

Friend - "Yea, and it's going to be $40,000 if in a minute if you want to push it"

LOLOLOLOLOLOL. He got his $33,000.

Stand by your guns and don't give in. The price is the price, take it or leave it.

Act like you don't need the business and people will treat you with more respect.

Hehe thats a funny story eric
but its soo true. i should tell my husband that so he can use it for when clients try to lowball him.

im pretty confident in my prices because i did a hell of a lot of research and if i ever plan to make this my primary income one day theres no way i can budge on the prices i have now.

thanks for the pep talk peeps
makes me feel a bit better

Stand by your prices.........don't lower them because the client thinks they are too high, it's just that they are too cheap!
