Default Question about CMS for a wedding photographer

Hi,
I am a web designer and I am now beggining to work on a Wedding- Photographer's website.

Besides the usual content managment system in which he will be able to create and manage galleries, the client asked for an application in which he could upload each evnent's photos to, and through that web application his clients (the bride and groom) will be able to watch their wedding photos and pick out their favorites which will go out to print. Then he (the photographer) will be able to send his clients' s selected photos straight by e-mail to the print-house, so they can download the selected picks right away and print them.

Do you happen to know if such a platform/web application/ CMS/ php code exists?

Thanks alot!
Sagi

All you'd really need to do is stump up some code that registers a boolean variable for each image, then send that result to the photographer in a useable format.

Ie.

IMG1 -- Print = yes
IMG2 -- Print = no
IMG3 -- Print = no
IMG4 -- Print = yes
IMG5 -- Print = yes
IMG6 -- Print = no
IMG7 -- Print = no
IMG8 -- Print = yes
IMG9 -- Print = no

This can be set using a PHP system similar to a traditional form: each field returns a value which is translated from a 1/0 to a yes/no in a table for the photographer OR as a list of 1/yes returns such as:

Images to be printed:
-----
IMG1
IMG4
IMG5
IMG8

From there the photographer can use whatever system he'd like to send the files off for printing.

Come to think of it, that's useful... *tinkers*

Default Thanks... but I'm still looking for a CMS to not have to hire developers

Developers hiring is my last option - unless they have done something like this before...

You dont need to HIRE anyone: PHP is fairly simple to learn, especially this kind of thing.

Why not use a cms "shopping cart" system and create private "stores" for each customer
(password protected directories for each store)?

Which CMS? Many have plugins to cover something like this. IME Drupal was the best and the most complicated to setup/create. But that was several years ago...haven't messed with it since. Most recent experience is with Moodle/ Blackboard (LMS systems)....

You wouldn't also be an AS3 guru would you?
I'm running in circles with a project right now...

I wish I knew what AS3 was. I just know some basic PHP from my web design experience. For the most part its just easier to use xHTML/CSS for the work I do: PHP is too large-format for a 10-page site.

The hard part comes with the inclusion of deciding sizes.

You should be able to do that with Zen Cart and Gallery 2 with a bit of fiddling around.

Otherwise you could probably get something done to do what you want in modx

Good luck

Default Photography Orders

Hi Sagi,

I've just finished a script that does this exact thing. It's called Photography Orders.

It's not free, but fairly cheap and will save you a lot of time in developing (took me about 200 hours to develop).

Happy to help you out if you have any questions about it.

Cheers,

Luke
