Has anyone heard of PhotographersDirect.com?

Hi all,

I found this site the other day and wondered if you had ever heard of it, as it has some interesting catch lines... namely their Fair Trade Photography Policy which is there to try and make sure that photographers get paid a proper amount for their shots... not 25p like some other stock sites!

To qualify, you need to show them a sample of your work and they will review it to see if you are of the right caliber to join their site. I thought I'd give it a whirl, but I didn't get my hopes up (here's my portfolio I pointed them too... Portfolio - a set on Flickr).

Only 12 hours later, and I'm validated... Wahoo!!! I hear you say, but I just cant help thinking there is a catch somewhere...

Has anyone heard of this site before, or had any experience with this site?

I guess the burning question is, why would buyers go through this site that charges more (and pays the photographer more per their fair trade policy you linked) when they could go to much larger stock sites with much larger catalogues and continue to pay tiny fees for the useage?
