Default Marketing to get more newborns

I have learned that people with new babies and people with only one kiddo LOVE to spend money of portraits. so I want them as my client (imagine that? )

Anyone have any ideas on how to do this, I want the new newborns, under a month old. I just do not know where to look. OBGYN will not allow me to leave fliers...

I actually stumbled into it, and now have expectant mothers coming to me.

My cash-strapped friend was pregnant, and asked if I'd be willing to do all the maternity and baby picks. I'd never done 'em before, so why not? After every session (except the maternity, she wanted those to be private), she posts them on Facebook, in her office, on her computer desktop, e-mails them to friends...

You can see where this is going. A girl in her late 20s is bound to have at least 5 or 6 friends that are pregnant, all of who want a photographer in the near future. They want these photos to share with friends, send to relatives, and display on Facebook.

Agree to give them the digitals, and they'll do all the marketting for you. Raise your sitting fees slightly to offset your loss of print profit. And you can still offer to do prints for them.

So I guess the next question is, where do the 20 somethings hang out?

Don't forget, you have clients, that have friends that have friends....do another model search campaign. Put your fliers up in grocery stores, find out there's any maternity boutiques, check out babies r' us and what not. Don't they usually have display boards?

Online, at Facebook and MySpace and on their cellphones.

funny you mention 20 somethings... my ad campaign running on facebook has revealed 37% of the "clicks" into my AD page are from women aged 18-24, and 18% 25-30.

so the vast majority women.. and mostly in their 20's

The Babies r us near me does not allow vendors to display fliers. BUT, I totally forgot about maternity boutiques. (a light bulb JUST went off) I am off to research that. I was going to do another model search but I had NO idea how to get the word out. FB adds may also work. I tried that for the reg stuff, but got some clicks and one person called but they were waay too far away.

Do you go to a local coffee shop or deli or restaraunt? Get to know the owners. Ask if you can hang a couple of images there, preferably larger ones to get attention. Pehaps offer to give them a percentage if they get sold.
Most importantly make sure your contact information is readily available. People see those and go "Oh, I want one just like that!"
Visit baby stores in the malls, do the same thing
Find some baby forums on line and post your photos. Cafe mom comes to mind

In the summer, find a park thats busy with kids. Borrow a friends baby and set up a big photo shoot nearby. Passerbys will see you and want your card

Im lucky every one I know my age is having baby's and their friends are having baby's and so on and so on. I would say word of mouth churches are a good place to start you do one and they tell their friends and so on.

Great idea re the the park. Unfortunately, all of my friends are past their baby making prime...If only I were 5 to 10 years younger -

I have sent out an email to all of my past clients/prospects re the newborn model search - lets see what happens...

I did not even think of church. I feel weird putting it out there in a place of worship but I guess I should get over that...
