Why not just arrange for families to meet at the local park? You can really get some great natural looking photos that really capture a childs curiosity and personality that it so hard to do in a studio environment.

I did a wedding for my brother-in-law recently and they weren't going to have a photographer so I did it for free. Had great fun but the amount of time I spent sorting photos and processing afterwards

Have realised exactly why photographers are the prices they are.

If you do package A for example, charging £30:

£9 to produce
£1 telephone calls (at least)

Half an hour setting up, half an hour talking to them on the phone before hand, one hour doing the shoot. Two hours sorting/post-production. Half an hour-an hour sitting with them while they choose their prints. Half an hour ordering the prints and sending them on.

I think I have actually been quite reserved with the time, but it still comes to 6 hours. £20/6 = £3.33 an hour.

And you haven't even added in the cost of your equipment depreciating.
