There is no reason the customer can not push back on the magazine and modify the agreement to use the picture one time, or only when included in reprints with the original bio article, or ??.

In any event, it needs to be a relatively pain free process for your client because look around this place and see how many people with cameras (and skill) would do it for free... or as someone else mentioned...the corner shop for a passport photo.

thank you everyone. i think i'm going to break down the price of the photo (when i decide what it will be lol) and explain to her that she has to buy the rights before she's able to give them away, etc etc.

even though i know the magazine will then hold the rights to reproduce and all that jazz, i'm still going to let them. i'm very new to this as a money-making job, so this could be a foot in the door opportunity that i wouldnt want to pass up just for a few extra bucks.

now comes the issue of how much to charge? i've never been in this position before, so i can't even think of a ballpark! If you were in my place, what would you charge per image?
