Hi, I've been getting requests from friends and family to take some portraits of their kids and was wanting to know if anyone could advise me which is a good online photo printing service in the UK. I know alot of people like mpix, but as far as I'm aware it is not available in the UK. Any help would be appreciated.

I've used Photobox in the past and been very happy with the results. I had my portfolio for the Royal Photographic Society printed by them, and the quality was excellent.
However, that was back in July, and I've read one or two posts elsewhere from people who feel that the quality has gone downhill recently, so I don't know. You could try a couple of test prints from Photobox (they're pretty cheap) and see what you think. There's one local to me (Bristol) - Photographique Bristol - Quality Photographic Printing and Gallery - slightly higher prices than Photobox, but although I haven't used them myself yet, I do know a couple of people who've had nothing but good things to say about not just the quality of the prints, but the quick turnaround, and excellent service too. Russ.

I've used Photobox in the past but the quality and service has gone down-hill since they redesigned their site a year or so ago.
Loxley Colour are often recommended as a high quality pro lab and are actually cheaper than Photobox for large sized prints. Their Java based online ordering system feels very dated and unnessisary but you can upload via email or FTP (if you pay more). Loxley Colour - Imaging for Professionals, Port Dundas, Glasgow, Scotland - you need to register before you can download a price list.
