Default French Traduction for Model Release ? Svp

Hi everyone !

Not sure it is the perfect place to ask in the forum.. seems like the closest..

I am writting my model release in french and Ive got a question concerning the traduction of "Model Release". I search the web and found :

"Décharge Photographique" or "Décharge de Responsabilités - Photos"

Not so sure witch one is the best. I feel like the second one appears scary because of that responsability word. Whatever the language is, asking someone for a signature + the "R" word... It sure sounds more engaging than the first..

Y a t-il des photographes francophones sur DPS ?

Thanks a lot/Merci d'avance !

Clem

Bonjour!

Well, I'm cajun french and haven't kept up with the french language much. But, I'm pretty sure Décharge means Discharge. I'd be careful as to what you put on it and get a second more qualified opinion. I know it's not much help. Je suis désolé.

Edit: Duh, this is for a model release, for some reason I thought it was a contract form. My fault completely. Then yes, it's something about discharging rights to use the photos.

Bonjour,
I believe the second translates as Disclaimer - Photos.
Mais, comment saurais-je? Je suis un Américain.
Bonne chance!

Default Merci !

Thanks a lot, it is really appreciated !
After what you told me, I also found "Autorisation de publication"

In french, une Décharge is "un acte juridique ou administratif libérant d'une dette ou d'une obligation". Some websites use this expression as a model release.. But with what both of you tell me, "Autorisation de publication" must be it..

If someone could confirm.. that would also be appreciated !!

(btw, i'm from Montreal, Qc, Canada )

Use "autorisation de publication", but if you could check with an individual that has law qualifications would be a much better idea. You're pretty much asking to publish the photo's. I know when I was in high-school (in Ottawa), that was what the company that was taking pictures for the grads and other events used. I might be wrong, so double-check, there must be some forms lying around on google

Hi,
"Autorisation de Publier" is the translation given by the "Grand Dictionaire Terminologique"
From the "Office de la langue française du Québec"
