Default Portfolio...

Okay, I know, I haven't been on for a while - the last time I really made a post it was about potentially getting a job at a photography studio down town. Now, I have an interview the beginning of Sept. They've requested a portfolio... Now, what's the common Portfolio? What do you think of these pictures? They're some photographs I've compiled to be in my portfolio. Are there any you'd take out, any from my flickr you'd put in?

I'd greatly appreciate any advice at all! I'm soo nervous!

Thank you! I'm glad to be back Missed you guys!

Here's the tricky thing about portfolios.

They're meant to show off your vast range of skills, but at the same time are targeted towards a specific job/position. There's a very fine line there that is often very hard to find properly.

Your suggested portfolio is ALL portraits. What's the job you're applying for? Is it for portraits, or for anything else? I just find it lacking in diversity.

There are some images that are much stronger than others, as well, and while there will always be a bit of a difference, there's a bit too much for me. Some look like snapshots compared to others. That needs to be addressed, for sure.

It very much depends what it is that youre applying for. This would be a great portfolio for a children/toddler/baby photography position, but not much else.

I agree with the above, they seem to cover what I would expect studio work to do. I would however clone out the dust spots on the wedding couple (sky r/h top above bride) & in the sky of the skateborder one.
Good luck

I am applying for a portrait position at a local studio. The issue is I don't have many portraits beyond children and babies since that's what I've mainly focused on. Could you please let me know, what ones in your opinion are considered snap shots? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help!

I saw the dust spots on the skate one, but not the wedding couple, thank you!

Hey Fawn...Will it be print or online. I say show the best 12-15, up to 20 if possible but they must be the best, images in print form of 8x10s. I think it would be helpful if you narrowed down your selection and place them into one spot that is specifically for this purpose and then give a link for that.

I meant a link for us to help you out with. Narrow it down to what you feel your best are and then we go from there.

The link is here.. I added photo titles so you could use that as a reference. I've also narrowed it down a bit, too.

I was just going through your pictures that you had put aside for your profile. Wanted to let you know that the 'talia dress' picture is stunning. Good luck with the interview!
