I use Wordpress, hosted through POEHosting.com (who I cannot recommend enough, they are so helpful and amazing). I pay 5 bucks a month, I didn't even have to download and install wordpress. They do it all for you. Patrick (who runs POE) is very helpful and I don't think he's ever taken longer than an hour to reply to my emails!

I use a "premium" Wordpress template (you will need a little ftp know-how to install and customize a template but I promise, it's not that scary!) and I love my website. You can use a template that looks like just a beautiful portfolio site or one that allows you to blog and offer your clients a website (what I do.)

I'd be happy to help you if you decide to go that route. I'm no web genius but I've been using wordpress for a couple years.

Here's a link to an article on Wordpress themes for photographers so you can get an idea of how they look: Wordpress Themes For Photographers

I love my site and you can't beat 5 bucks a month, plus the 7 a year for my dot com (which you can get on POE too and have everything all in one place!)

Good luck!

ETA: Did you know this site is a wordpress site?

Hello,

I totally understand where you are coming from. I am right brain. My left brain needs a little well actually a lot of help when it comes to technical items. Saying that I decided to go with smug mug for my website/host. Just because it had all the items I needed plus it was user friendly. At the moment I am researching templates for blogs. After reading your post I thought you might be interested in this site. Its Tofurious | Professional Photographer Blog Themes | Wedding Photography Tips | Free Downloads I'm not certain if you can use the templates with the "free" wordpress but the designer has step by step instructions with their downloads. Just a little FYI incase you decide to have a blog with your website.

Has anyone else used tofurious before?

Take care~ DB

I wasn't advising to use the blog information for your website I was giving you this information incase you wanted to have a blog in addition to your website. I myself like website with a link to a blog. I think the blog gives your customer another avenue to get to know you as a person. Just my two cents. You did a nice job on your site. You should be proud! Take care~ DB

two years ago I had to learn Flash to do with a contract I got. To learn about Flash I decided to create a WEB site for my Girlfriend who is an Illustrator as I am.

Start_THIS

If you have the time it is a great programm to learn and realy.... it isn't too tricky sorting out the suff and keeping it upto date.

Get a trail version and see how it works out. I love creating my own Templets, the ones you can get free are just cra*.

Cheers, Ian

eNZee, sorry, your site doesn't load at the moment. Probably ur working on it....

MWerner

I like your images a LOT, believe me, great ones...

One suggestion, I have a big 26" screen, but when your site loaded with the b&w portrait in blue canvas and I clicked one of the categories, I didn't notice that the contents is actually below and thought your links were broken. Took me few clicks to see that some text is changing on the bottom of the screen. Somebody with a smaller screen might not see this and think the links are broken or something. Maybe to get rid of the portrait? Go for a thinner banner or something? Just my 2 cents on it though....

after thinking about it some more i think down the line i will add a blog to my site. right now ill leave it as is because i only have a certain number of pages im allowed through this host. if i want more i need to pay so ill leave it for now. but its definately something to consider. i agree with your comment about the customer getting to know you on a different level. its not so "formal".

@ tokyorush - hmm im trying to envision what you're seeing. what do you mean some text was changing at the bottom of the screen? i was also wondering what someone might see with a smaller screen cause i do have a pretty large screen myself. maybe i change the banner or something

Ouch, did you know that before you started using the host you're using? But the way you say that it's free hosting anyway. Might be time to find somewhere else.

Having a page limit just doesn't make sense to me. I can theoretically make a 1 page website that uses 10x the amount of storage space as your current site.
