Default Weddings.... Dress code??

Hola a todos!!

Some of you may find this question a little....... Dahh! But I really want your input.

When I started to do weddings I used to wear suits, but it was unconfortable as well as hot. I sweated a lot.

Of course I'd like to wear jeans and snickers since you know you get to walk a lot. But that could be very "cassual"

I've seen videos of photographers wearing jeans.... and others where they were black pants and a nice shirt. I know that some take the "I'm artist and I really don't care about formality look" But.....

How do you dress for weddings, Baptisms and all that???

Gracias!! have a nice weekend..... I'm taking off to shoot a wedding.

Thank you

First off I would ask the people I'm shooting for what I was expected to wear.

I probably wouldn't go lower than a polo shirt. Pants I'm not sure though. I have a pair of cargo pants I wore for basketball games because I would use the pockets.

i would say probably just a pair of black dress pants and a black polo shirt.
something basic but not to fancy, or underdressed.
you also want to be as descrete as possible and not be seen alot.(so i would figure wearing black would do this)
good luck!

I have dress-y black cargo pants that blend pretty well in most settings, add in a collared wrinkle-free shirt and rubber soled pseudo-dress shoes and you're good to go.

First wedding I shot, I asked about what to wear.

I ended up wearing a black suit, white dress shirt, and tie. Those damn dress shoes bout killed me. Definitely not designed to stand in for close to 8 hours.

Find yourself some comfortable running-shoe like shoes that LOOK like formal dress shoes. I use mine for work.

I also think a good pair of simple slacks and a dress shirt do wonders. You can always show up in a a tie and jacket and pair down a bit.

You should wear the same thing as the rest of the guests wear so you don't stick out. Want to be professional----- then look professional.

Nice as it would be, it's probably not practical. For one thing, if you wear a normal dress shirt, it's going to be a wrinkled mess by the end of the night. Do you need to look presentable? Yes. Do you need to look like a guest? No.

So, under that logic one should never wash their clothing or take a shower as it will just be dirty later. You can convince yourself of anything I guess, but if you go to any high end function you will see that all staff is dressed just as the guests so as not to stand out. I have never been to a fancy wedding and seen a photographer in anything but a suit or tux. Now I am not talking about things that take place at the firehouse or Elks lodge - I am talking about high end where the dress code is Black Tie.
