Default Where do you go to print Photo Books?

Hey guys ~ I want to offer customized photo books for my clients. Who do you guys through to print yours? I've been to Mpix, but it seems kinda pricey. So I thought I'd ask about other places.

Thanks!

I have used Shutterfly for myself but not for a client. I know people who use My Publisher. I also know people who use Miller's (which is the parent company to Mpix).

Personally I love Blurb. But I'm not a professional or anything.

Well, I totally forgot about OldWulf's great review on MyCanvas! (I even posted a reply that i was going to look into it. LOL) So it looks like for me, it's between Blurb and MyCanvas. I'm off to continue comparing and researching!

BTW...have any of you created a photo book as your hardcopy portfolio? Just curious as I'm thinking of doing this.

I am thinking of using Asuka Book. They are very expensive but I really only want to sell high end to my clients. I have a blurb book here that another photographer made and sold me. I opened it and the pages all started to come apart. It's okay, but not something I would sell to a client.

Thanks Lauren for the feedback! This definitely impacts my decision to go with Blurb.

Btw...do you all know if any of these companies have a wholesale account for photographers? To me, if a company doesn't offer a wholesale account, why would a client buy a photo book through me (at a higher price) when they can go directly to the company themselves for cheaper? For example, with Mpix - they don't have a special photographer account (my understanding is that Millers is their professional account division). So, why wouldn't clients just go directly thru Mpix to buy their prints or other customized products rather than thru me, since I would increase the prices?

I know that Asuka Book only sells to photographers, so your clients can't find out the actual price or buy directly from them. They are expensive for sure, but they do give you a discount on your first order.

Also, I have heard that WHCC books are pretty good.

I own a macbook and have a mobileme account and you can go through iPhoto to get photobooks done, I believe the prices are reasonable or comparable.

I made 2 identical books from two different places, MyPublisher and Blurb. I was then going to decide who to order a whole gang of books from. They both turned out nearly identical. My wife said the MyPublishers one looked better to her and I tought the Blurb one did. Truth be told... it's pretty much a coin flip between those two IMO.
