I personally agree with Kellyrie on page 1.
Editing is a bitch and one of the hardest things we do because it's self critique, and it's only natural that we're never as tough on ourselves as our peers are. Why would we be, we're photographers, so by definition we have ego's that SHALL NOT BE DENTED If only eh...Anyway, I have a rule of thumb in my workflow that goes like this, back up the shoot to DVD and then load all the images to my 'working folder', open Bridge. Scan the shots in the working folder. Anything that looks instantly crap gets binned immediately (no regrets). Anything that doesn't get the nod in the next 10 seconds goes into a 'maybe' folder. The final images stay in the 'working' folder. Another quick run through the maybe folder confirms initial thoughts (or not). Anything not moved back to the working folder is binned. I still have all the shots archived on to the DVD, just in case, but I have only ever gone back to the DVD archive on a handful of occassions. I honestly believe that if it doesn't look good in the first 10 seconds it's never going to look good, no matter how much PS post-processing you do to it. Aim for 30 - 40 edited images from about 7 or 8 different poses from a shoot. You'll probably have somewhere between 100 and 150 images. When presenting to the client do it 4 or 5 at a time using the same pose. Anything else probably overwhelms. Cheers Paul
