Default Proofing?

So which do you use: proofing online after the session, proofing at the session on a computer with limited processing, proofing pages, or something I haven't listed?
What are the pros and cons of each?
I am wondering because I was thinking about going with Smug Mug or Zenfolio and then some photographers have told me they don't do this anymore because they didn't have any sales. If the person walked out the door then so did the sales. What do you think?

What about prepaying? Do any of you do that? I am told that helps with the sales if you do online galleries.

There are varied ways. Many will create proof cd's/dvd's and have a sit down session. Also, they will have online proofing galleries but only for a specified time for ordering. Some combine online proofing and sit down sessions. Online proofing allows folks from not in the area to order their own prints.

When I get to the next level of my photography, I will offer online galleries for proofing in addition to sit down sessions. There's other ways besides zenfolio and smugmug and those types of services that can be used. For example, you can purchase a script, EZPhotoSales, that handles the ordering process and you provide your own hosting.
