Default please share tips for shooting engagement photos

I have my first engagement photo session on Sunday, and I'm wondering if I should ask the couple to dress alike like they do in family portraits or is that cheesy? We are going to be taking pictures of them on their favorite bike trail (which was part of their initial courting period) so I am excited about taking some fun panning shots of them. But do you have any other suggestions?

Personally, I think the dressing alike is a little cheesy; however, coordinating is another story! I'm certain, being on the bike trail will lend itself to great photo opportunities in addition to your plan for panning shots, which I think will be great! Can't wait to see some of the finished product.

if you're doing a bike trail then I'd have him chase after her on his bike or he could be running after her while she's riding. I think that would make a cute engagement picture.

Now if she did most of the courting then I'd have her chase him down. Her riding the bike and him running away on foot.

Great ideas Oldwolf!
As for dress, the only thing I would ask them to do is dress in a similar style. Have them both in neat casual not one in sports gear and the other in a ball gown if you know what I mean. Perhaps ask them what type of pics they might like and go from there.

Good luck and I hope we get to see some of the results.

I have no idea how the shoot went. We'll have to wait for thenimirra to tell us and post pics.
