Earning Intentions?

I am firmly in the "not enough experience" category. I am working on a diploma in Photography right now, and while I know it's not NECESSARY, I feel it will really help me at least show that I am serious about what I'm doing. And even though I own a DSLR, I can barely work the manual controls yet *lol* While my interests lie elsewhere in the industry, when my new baby comes I hope to do some "studio-esque" and location shooting of my young'uns and husband to start on the road to building a diverse portfolio. One day though, I would LOVE to earn even a modest income from it - if I could replace my Canon XTi with a higher-end body, and add some other fun extras, I would feel satisfied.

And I am terribly rough on myself - I am rarely satisfied with my work, even if technically it's fine, and it's only made worse by the fact that my aunt is a professional photographer and my grandmother is as good as one, so in my family, I'm competing with both of them to prove my talent.
