Question Arghhh! Another 'help with a name' Thread - sorry!

Im in such a quandry!

I own the following domains:

firstnamesirname.com
alicepalice.com (my flickr name)
hellotreacle.co.uk
supergorgeous.co.uk

I thought I had decided that Hello Treacle would be the website for my photography business - I like the quirky ring to it, but thought maybe Treacle Photos or similar would be better as a business name.

I tried it with a watermark over a couplf of my pics, 'treacle photos' and I really didn't think it went.

Then, I started thinking of the wedding shoot Ive been asked to do, and just, I dont know 'Treacle Photos are doing my wedding'... it just doesnt sound right!

I am aware of the connotations of using your real name as your business address from reading all the relating threads here, I was thinking of just having my real-name url linking through to the biz site.

Anyway - ummm, not too sure what Im asking... just HELP! Is Hello Treacle a funny name for a business.

I dont want to be plain jane as I would like my company to be associated with fun and quirky and modern pics... but I also need something suitable.

I hope to photopgrah weddings, children, families, people....

Oh, and supergorgeous.co.uk thoughts about using that?

Hmmm.. well imho supergorgeous is not as appealing

"Hello Treacle" except for the way it sounds.. does the meaning suit your style of photography?

Think something that has meaning closer to you or your work.
Simple and easy to pronounce. People dont have to think for a long time before they mention your name
Short enough to remember. Shouldn't be as long as an address
Think of a tag line that can go with it

Well I think 'Hello Treacle' is quirky and upbeat, which is what I hope to be.... I just dont know if it's a weirdy name to call a business!

hello

this is definitely a very important and difficult decision for you to make, theres no going back!!

personally, hello treacle reminds me of Frank Butcher from Eastenders. I cant see or hear the phrase without hearing Frank saying it in his deep and gravelly cockney voice.

Aside from my own strange association with it, I think you are right to say that "treacle photos are doing my wedding" doesnt sound very pro.

I also struggle when trying to think of this kind of thing so im not sure how much I can help really. It has to be quirky and original enough to stand out but still remain professional. Supergorgeous is getting there I think, much better than hello treacle

Ooops, sorry, I hadn't seen this!

I don't remember the Frank Butcher thing, but someone else mentioned Dirty Den.... I don't remember it personally!

Someone said to me that people find it tricky to spell gorgeous.

I just cant seem to think of anything! Maybe I should make up a real-name!

That was my first thought when I saw that name. I used to work for one of the world's largest web hosting companies, and frequently got calls from people who tried to be clever with how they spelled their domain names. This resulted in quite a lot of frustration with both the owner of the name and me the person trying to interpret what they were saying. So I'd skip alicepalice.

Ive finally thought of a name I love! EXCEPT the .co.uk and .com are both registered already.

The .co.uk is renting out a holiday home and the .com is for sale, so I've put in an enquiry. Fingers crossed. Do you think if I did go ahead with the .com, that having .co.uk as a holiday home site would be a problem? Its not like they'd ever get rid of it either as its the name of the house iyswim

MWHAHAHA the site name I liked, that was for sale.... I just got an email back, they're asking $7,900 for it HAHAHA that's that one out the window then!! It was www.bellaluna.com by the way

www.bellalunaphotos.co.uk or www.bellalunaphotography.com is available, but then it's getting a bit long winded. Someone in USA has already got www.bellaluna-photography.com (eta, just discovered another usa person has www.bellalunaphotos.com)

Sorry for all my ramblings, just trying to get this bit done and dusted!
