Default What's in a name...

So given how things are progressing I'm thinking about setting a Facebook page and eventually a website for my photography. Question is... what name should I use?

Seems like a lot of people just go with there name these days so that would leave me with:
- Wes Armson Photography or
- Wesley Armson Photography

I'm currently an employee but was contracting for a bit so I have a corporation set up. Regardless of the name it will be under / part of the same corporation in terms of year end, taxes, etc. So should I just use that name?

Wessense Enterpises Ltd. or should I go with something more industry specific like Wessense Photograpy which like I mentioned would be a division of Wessense Enterprises?

Thoughts / opinions would be appreciated. I guess there is also the option of going with something totally different...

Nothing wrong with using your corporation for this AND a trading name.

I think you should stick with name plus photography. You want people to remember your name and makes it a little more personal, instead of giving a feel of a company which feels impersonal.

I have a company name and all of my.... uh, departments say, work under sub brands, that way I can manage them seperately and sell them off at any time.

And I'd say get the website first. Facebook and social media are *aids* to marketing, you shouldn't run a business from them.

Yeah I get that I probably wouldn't want to go with just Facebook if the was a full time deal. But as an occasional weekend warrior I think it'll be the simplest way to display results / portfolio.

What advantages does a web page offer aside from a little more professional feel?

A web page is your brick and mortar equivalent in the online world. When people search for photographers in your area from the convenience of their computers you will be found.

I do not use my real name for a studio name .. it's just one more thing that seperates me from the other 3,000 photographers in my area and helps you stand out in the crowd. Everybody and their drunk uncle uses My Name Photography .. it's a creative profession .. be creative.

I think I would go with just Armson Photography, leaving your first name off. It's shorter, easier to remember and sounds more reputable then using your whole name. Also when it comes time to create a logo a simple typographic translation off the letter "A" could make for a very cool mark.

I felt like everyone does the name thing, so that's why I wanted to come up with something a little different. My hubby was wise and suggested I get the website first and then use that in conjunction with a "like" page, etc. I am hoping it will help me be taken more seriously. I'm having a hard time to know what to do next though. Go for whatever feels best and hopefully it will all start falling into place
